June 28 - July 4

Head over to the carnival where we have rides and thrill levels for all ages. From the ferris wheel and tilt-a-whirl, to your favorite carnival games and snacks, our carnival has something for everyone. And who knows; you might just walk away with a prize!

Wristbands are $25 June 28th -July 3rd & $30 on July 4th.  You can purchase wristbands at the carnival ticket booth.

Come dunk your favorite coach, city official or co-worker. Proceeds to benefit Wamego Fire Department and Auxiliary.

Come to City Park for the 48th Annual Walter P. Chrysler Car Show.

Stop by the 37th Annual Kaw Valley Antique Engine, Truck and Tractor Club Show to see dozens of unique farm equipment from all over the U.S.

Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church will be hosting a free Watermelon Feed at the City Park Shelter on the 4th of July. All are welcome!

We had 6 cameras inside the fence during the 2018 Fireworks show to document the show from the Pyro Crew point of view. You've never seen the show like this. Don't miss your chance to see last year's show from "Behind the Fence"  3:00 pm. Enjoy a cocktail from the "Drama Club Bar" at The Columbian"  from 12-7:30 pm. Stroll through the theatre and discover its 1893 Chicago World’s Fair artifacts and enjoy art by local artists in the Swogger Gallery.

The Shuttle is free and open to the public to and from the Wamego Recreation Complex from 4-9 p.m. and will provide return service after the fireworks show.  Shuttles will make stops at the top of the parade route from 4 to 6:00pm for those wishing to attend the Parade.  This drop-off location is NOT a pick-up location.  Pick-up locations are at the recreation complex only.

Join us on main street (Lincoln Ave from 8th to 4th street) for the 151st annual Wamego Independence Day Parade. This year's Theme is Freedom Still Rings.  Shuttles will make drops between 3 pm and 7 pm at the parade route to allow shuttle passengers to get off for the parade.  This will not be a pick up spot a drop only.

Take a walk down memory lane at the 42nd Annual Walter P. Chrysler Car Show. With an average of over 100 entries, there’s something for everyone. (9:00 AM to 3:30 PM)

OZ Museum

Experience the World of OZ at the famous OZ Museum downtown. It showcases over over 2,000 artifacts dating from 1900 to present day. You will find detailed historical facts about the movie and actors, OZ memorabilia, and so much more! (10:00 AM to 6:00 PM)

Toto's Tacoz

A trip to Wamego isn’t complete without a meal from Toto’s Tacoz. The Yellow Brick Burrito, Dorothy's Quesadilla and Uncle Henry’s Nachos are some of their famous dishes, but no matter what you get you won’t be disappointed. All of their food is OZ-some! (11:00 AM to 3:00 PM)

There’s always room for dessert, right? Stop by Wamego Historical Society ice cream and cake social for a sweet treat. (10:00 AM to 5:00 PM)

Afternoon - July 4th

Columbian Theatre
Cocktail Cool-Off!  Enjoy air conditioning and a cocktail from the Columbian cash bar from 12-7:30 pm. First 20 people can watch the parade from the balcony!  Stroll through the theatre and discover its 1893 Chicago World’s Fair artifacts and enjoy art by local artists in the Swogger Gallery. Watch Boomtown 2-Behind the Fence at 1:30 and 3 pm.

Grab a bite and a beverage 1:00 - 9:00 pm.

Enjoy dinner at Barleycorn's Bar & Deli where they have something for everyone. Their slow-cooked meats are a local favorite, and their cole slaw and potato salad options are great, too! (10:00 AM to 8:00 PM)

Lincoln Ave./Main Street 

The Fourth of July parade doesn’t kick off until 6:00 PM, but make your way to Lincoln Ave. early to save your seat. It fills up fast! (5:30 PM to 6:00 PM)

Insider tip: Try and grab a seat on the West side of the street so you’re in the shade.

Main Street

If you’re coming to the Wamego Fourth of July celebration, you can’t miss the parade! 2021 marks 150 years of classic cars, area floats and incredible live music. Plus, who doesn’t like a little free candy? (6:00 PM to 7:00 PM)

The shuttles will make drops near the parade route from 4-6 pm to allow passengers to be dropped off for the parade.  This is a drop only and NOT a pick up spot.

Rec Complex

Make your way to the fireworks viewing area to grab a seat and enjoy the concert.  Concessions are still open, so grab a funnel cake or slushie on your way to enjoy while you walk! (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM).

Insider tip: Allow the traffic to thin out a little bit before you leave for a safe ride home.
