#1 Rated Fireworks Show in Kansas

Enjoy one of the biggest and greatest fireworks show in the Midwest! The show starts at 10 p.m. and prepare to be amazed with a spectacular display of fireworks that has a “finale that never ends”. Don’t believe us? View last year's Fireworks show and find detailed information here.

Best View:

The view at the recreation complex is simply spectacular! Those who make the journey have never regretted the decision, or the effort. Within the complex your view is 3D of fireworks launching and sequencing around the ball diamonds in a true 360 degree experience from more than 60 discreet shoot sites throughout the display. This year wherever you are, tune your radio to B104.7 FM and enjoy an enhanced experience listening to the show soundtrack courtesy of Hot Country B104.7.

How Long is the Firework Show?

The show lasts 30 minutes and 29 seconds. Be sure to come early for the pre-festivities!

What Should I Bring?

  • Radio - Hot Country B104.7 will have the soundtrack for the fireworks starting at 9:50pm. Make sure to listen to get the full experience of the show.
  • Lawn Chairs & Blankets - Most of the Rec Complex is grass
  • Water Bottle - There will be places to refill waterbottles to stay hydrated. (check event map for details)
  • coolers (no alcohol on city property)
  • Frisbee, football, and washers (no personal fireworks allowed on city property)
  • Picnic basket
  • Bug spray
  • Ear plugs for sensitive ears (get ready for lots of loud boomers and crackling shells!)

Food vendors are available at the complex prior to the fireworks.

NO ALCOHOL or FIREWORKS allowed at the Rec Complex, on City Property or Shuttle Busses.

Expect Post Show Traffic Delays

For parking options, please check out the event map.

Carnival and Parade
Arrive as early as possible.  Public parking is available along any city street. Parking will not be allowed on Hwy 99/Lincoln Ave. from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to allow for the parade.  Parking is not allowed near the fuel pumps South of the City Park on 4th st.

Parking spots (including handicapped parking) fill up quickly, so come early! Recreation complex parking for the Fireworks Show is reserved for show sponsors. There are several lots nearby on Balderson Blvd. for non-reserved parking.  Once the lots are full, parking is available along city streets.

Shuttle Parking

There are two shuttle locations this year:

  • High School Football Stadium, just South of Highway 24 at Columbian Road.
  • Wamego Middle School, North of Highway 24 on Kaw Valley Road.

The shuttle buses will run from 4-9 pm and after the fireworks. Drop off location is the Recreation Sports Complex where the fireworks will be held. This is a short walk (approximately 5 minutes) to Lincoln Street for the parade.

Handicap Parking

Wamego strives to meet the needs of our guests, especially those who may need a little extra help. Wamego exceeds the number of disabled parking spaces required by the ADA but there is simply never enough. Please arrive early to guarentee a handicap spot. Handicap Parking is available at the Rec Complex and by Shuttle from the Middle School.

Reserved Parking

A handful of reserved, premium parking spaces in the complex remain. Go to to check availability or purchase before they are all gone. Reserved Parking (including Handicap) is available at the East Rec Complex parking lot for $100.
