One of the largest fireworks displays in the state caps the week-long 4th of July celebration that includes a parade and a carnival.

Wamego is the place to experience one of the biggest and best 4th of July celebrations in the state! These Independence Day events are all part of a Wamego tradition spanning 143 years and counting!

143rd Wamego Independence Day Parade--   

Largest & Longest Running Parade in the State!

Spanning more than 6 blocks and lasting over one hour, this parade is the largest and longest running parade in the area. The parade starts at 6 p.m., but plan to arrive an hour in advance to pick your viewing spot along Lincoln Avenue as space along the street fills quickly!  Don't forget your lawn chair!

Evans Midland Empire Shows, Inc. CARNIVAL!

JULY 2nd - JULY 5

Enjoy carnival rides for all ages and thrill levels at the Carnival taking place along 5th and Ash Street in Wamego. Savor cotton candy & burgers and try your hand at carnival games--you might just walk away with a prize! The carnival will run from 3-10 p.m. on July 4th and wristbands will be sold for $23.00 each!  All other days the carnival is open 6-10 p.m. Wristbands available each night from 6-10 p.m. for $22.00 each.

Did You Know?

The first floor of the Columbian Theatre has served many uses through the years, including supporting a furniture store and a dry goods store. The first floor actually came in one piece, originally from a local skating rink. It now houses the Swogger Gallery, which features rotating exhibits.
